Driving licence changes

28.05.2015

You may have heard that from 8th June 2015 the paper counterpart driving licence is being scrapped. Following this date, the counterpart will carry no legal status, and the DVLA recommends you destroy it.

This will affect the way in which we carry out test drives, courtesy vehicles and demos, as we will need to check your licence details online following the legislation change. The photocard or paper licence will not be enough by itself anymore.

To enable us and other companies to check your licence online, you will need to access the DVLA’s Share Driving Licence service (https://www.viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk/driving-record/licence-number), and create a temporary code, which will allow us to access your record for 72 hours to make the necessary checks.

Full details can be found on the DVLA website - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/driving-licence-changes
